Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid)
Ascorbic acid, better known as vitamin C, is powder or crystal of white to pale-yellow color with antioxidant properties.
The name is derived from a (“not”) and scorbutus (“scurvy”), a disease caused by deficiency of vitamin C.
It is soluble in water. Because of its antioxidant properties, vitamin C has wide application in food industry such as production of soft drinks, meat industry and virtually all other food industries.
It is also used in pharmaceutical industry because of its multiple benefits for the human body.
